About Jill
In 2007, after a "was-I-ever-lucky" car accident, Jill saw it was a wakeup call to appreciate the blessings she took for granted. But even with her newfound appreciation, Jill struggled to maintain a daily grateful mindset. One major reason: a destructive habit in her female friendships. "The focus of our conversations was often about commiserating...complaining about men, career, motherhood, you name it....this was not helping improve my life or my friends'." After reading everything she could find regarding gratitude, Jill developed and wrote The Gratitude Groove 40-day program. 30 female volunteers tried out her program in fall of 2007. The feedback: Each participant's self-awareness, self-esteem, and happiness rating increased, remaining elevated after the program. "We saw that the buddy system works to make a gratitude habit stick--and it's fun and feels good to connect through the 'Tell me about what you're grateful for today?' approach." Jill believes that finding gratitude for what IS in our lives, rather than excessively thinking--and talking--about what's missing, helps us heal our lives. "There is a quote from author Caroline Myss that I love which says, 'You can spend your life needing to be healed or you can spend your life healing others.' The ultimate goal of The Gratitude Groove is to empower women to heal their lives through gratitude consciousness. Then we take the focus off of ourselves and help others. Gratitude starts at home, but it has a positive global effect." Jill teaches The Gratitude Groove to women around the U.S. and the United Kingdom... and...more places to come. She is excited to be working on the publication of The Gratitude Groove book.
